Ikedaya Yasubei Shoten

A popular sightseeing spot in Toyama, the “medicine city”
Familiar to people from all over Japan since the Edo Period, this store provides a place to experience the culture and history of medicine sales in Toyama, as well as the opportunity to purchase medicines and try your hand at making traditional pills using an old wooden apparatus. The Japanese medicines available in retro-style packaging make for great souvenirs. You can also try “Yakuzen ryori” (various dishes containing medicinal herbs) at the restaurant located on the 2nd floor.
